The last ad limina of Benedict XVI’s pontificate

Pope Benedict XVI held the final ad limina visits of his pontificate on Friday, meeting with the bishops of the Italian regions of Lombardy and Liguria. The Archbishop of Genoa and President of the Italian Bishops’ Conference, Cardinal Angelo Bagnasco, said that the climate of these meetings was very friendly, and that and Benedict XVI was informed in a detailed and precise way on the problems presented by the bishops on the pastoral life of the diocese. On Sunday, the Holy Father is to begin the week-long Lenten spiritual exercises, during which he has no public engagements.
