Friday afternoon in the Chapel of Santa Marta, the Pope met for about half an hour with a group of 22 seriously ill children, patients at the paediatric oncology ward of Rome’s Agostino Gemelli hospital. Pope Francis spoke with the children, inviting them to always feel the presence of Jesus near them. They prayed a “Hail, Mary!” together, and then Pope Francis offered his blessing, which, he explained, is “like a hug from God.” He then met with each child individually, together with their parents.
