Pope Francis meets UN General Assembly President

The scourge of human trafficking and the continued tension in the Middle East were the focus of Pope Francis’ concerns in discussions here at the Vatican today with the President of the United Nations General Assembly, Serbian native Vuk Jeremic.

A statement from the Press Office of the Holy See says that the Pope and the President held cordial discussions on a range of issues, including: the peaceful resolution of international conflicts, and the serious humanitarian emergencies caused by them.

The Statement goes on to say that the meeting confirmed the Holy See’s appreciation for the United Nation’s central role in seeking the common good of humanity.
