Pope Francis: hospitality should be without borders

With your daily service you are the hands of God who satisfies the hunger of every living thing. These were Pope Francis words to the Missionary Sisters of Charity, founded by Blessed Teresa of Calcutta, during his visit Tuesday evening to the Casa Dono di Maria, in the Vatican. The shelter run by the Sisters offers housing to about 25 homeless women and daily meals to 60 men. Pope Francis recalled that the House dedicated to Our Lady offers shelter without distinction of nationality or religion. We all need to recover a sense of gift, gratuity, solidarity, because – he said – there’s a savage capitalism that teaches the logic of profit at any cost and exploitation without taking the person into account.
