Pope Francis: courage in proclaiming the Gospel

The Church must be courageous in proclaiming the Gospel. This was stated by Pope Francis in his homily at morning Mass. He also had a special greeting for the Swiss Guards present at Mass who will be sworn in on May 6. Reflecting on the daily readings, Pope Francis said: “When the Church loses courage, the Church enters into a ‘lukewarm’ atmosphere. The lukewarm, lukewarm Christians, without courage … That hurts the Church so much, because this tepid atmosphere draws you inside, and problems arise among us; we no longer have the horizon, or courage to pray towards heaven, or the courage to proclaim the Gospel.
