A cordial meeting took place this morning between Pope Francis and the prime minister of Malta, Joseph Muscat. A communiqué from the Vatican Press Office states that, in the course of the meeting, “the apostolic origins of the Maltese Church and the decisive imprint that Christianity left on the history and culture of the people of the archipelago were recalled”, as were the pastoral visits of Blessed John Paul II and Benedict XVI.
