Conclave to begin March 12

“The eighth General Congregation of the College of Cardinals decided that the Conclave for the election of the Pope will begin this coming Tuesday, March 12. On Tuesday morning in St. Peter’s Basilica, the Missa pro eligendo pontifice will be celebrated, and in the afternoon, the Cardinal-electors will enter into Conclave. The Cardinal-electors present number 115. The votes of 77 Cardinals will be sufficient for the election of the new pontiff. No fewer than 100 Cardinals have given speeches so far on the floor of the General Congregations.
